Reporter: Irma Wahyuni Courtroom FSH, UIN Online - Prof Dr Muhammad Amin Suma MM MA SH was elected Dean of the Faculty of Shari'a and Law (FSH) for the 2010-2014 period. The prospective dean who is also the incumbent was elected for the second time after competing in the election held in Courtroom FSH. Of the 28 members of the faculty senate who has a right to vote, Amin Suma managed to gather 22 votes. While other dean candidates, namely Prof. Dr. Amany Lubis Burhanudin won six votes, while Syahrul Dr. Adam and Dr. Burhanuddin Mamat received no votes. The results of this elected dean will be submitted to the Rector to be confirmed. Before the election, the candidates were asked to elaborate their vision and mission on the development of FSH in the next four years. Amin Suma currently holds the position of Dean of FSH for the 2006-2010 period. He was born in Cilegon, Banten on May 5, 1955. In addition to teaching at several universities, he also recorded a number of important positions today, including Vice Chairman of the MUI Fatwa Commission, member of National Sharia Council, Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board of Insurance, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Islamic Sharia Adira Insurance, Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board of Bank Permata Syariah, Tanmia Insani Foundation Director, and Chairman of the Association of Scientists and Scholars Syariah Indonesia (HISSI). Other activities are speaker on several television stations and assemblies as well as a taklim writer. Amin Suma also noted the owner of the most academic degrees(Professors, Drs, Dr, MA, SH, MM) all of which are completed in a briefest tme possible. In fact, he was confirmed as the youngest professor of IAIN (now UIN, Red) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 1997. He received awards from the Mayor of Cilegon as Best Regional Son (2002), the award of a Presidential Medal of Karya Satya 10 years and works Satya Medal of 20 years. (ns)
