Gedung Mandiri, UIN Online – A university is not perfect without a book store or library in it. Thus, the presence of Mizan Book Corner which provides books for students is expected to become the source of civilizations.

“In developed countries, a professor even cooperate with publishers with the purpose of providing students with the books which the Professor suggests to be used in  the learning process,” said Rector Prof Dr Komaruddin Hidayat when officially opened Mizan Book Corner (Mizan bookstore) on the second floor of Mandiri Building, Wednesday (7/4). Present in the event was The President Director of PT Mizan Media Utama, Dr Haidar Bagir and other UIN Jakarta officials.

According to the Rector, UIN Jakata cooperates with Mizan in the provision of textbooks or other books as references. By having Mizan Book Corner in the campus area of UIN Jakarta, it is expected that students can acquire books they require easily and affordably.

Meanwhile the presence of the bookstore, which is located on the second floor of Mandiri Building in UIN Jakarta, according to the Rector signifies that science must be uphold and bank as a symbol of capitalism is located underneath.

“Actually UIN Jakarta is an instrument. Upwards it has the access to high ranking state officials. While the downward access is done among others through the presence of the bookstore (Mizan),” he said.

The grand opening of Mizan Book Corner was marked by the release of  balloons and the cutting of  cone shaped  rice by the  Rector. The event was also filled with the signing of cooperation between UIN Jakarta with PT Mizan Media Utama in the form of renting of space, the organizing of seminars and book publishing. Symbolically, Mizan also handed a number of  books to be donated to the library of UIN Jakarta. (elve/ns)
