Academic Building, UIN Online – Head of Sub Department of Student’s Welfare Dra. Mahmudah Tasyrifatun said the 2010 BIDIK MISI scholarship which was closed in the end of last month got quite a lot of response by prospective students. This can be seen by the many prospective students who registered in a number of faculties. The number of registrants even exceeded the number of available quota. ”The number of prospective students who registered for the BIDIK MISI scholarship exceeded the available quota. For instance, the number of registrants for the Faculty of Usul al-Din is 56 people, while the available quota is only for 20 people. In the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah, the available quota is 20 people, while the number of registrant is 53 people,” said Mahmudah to UIN Online in the Academic Building, Tuesday (11/5). The registration is followed by the selection process for the scholarship. According to Mahmudah, the selection is carried out in the respective faculties. The faculties prioritize students coming from underprivileged families but having good academic achievements and also pay attention to their places of origin. After the selection process is done, the files of the selection result are sent to Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education (Dikti Kemendiknas). BIDIK MISI scholarship is provided by General Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education (Dikti Kemendiknas) which is given to prospective students coming from underprivileged families having good academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements. The Ministry of National Education gives UIN the quota of 100 students to study in Faculties dealing with religion. (Elve/Muhammad Nurdin)
