Senayan City, UIN Online - In commemoration of World Blood Day on Monday (14/6), WHO take the theme “New Blood for the World”. The global campaign of blood donation this year is “targeting" young donors. Therefore, UIN Jakarta and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) agreed to establish cooperation activities in blood donation The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was carried out by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Komaruddin Hidayat and Chairman of PMI’s Center Dr Muhammad Jusuf Kalla in the Hall of Senayan City on the 8th floor, in Jakarta, Monday (14/6). Also attending the ceremony were Director of the Graduate School of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Azyumardi Azra, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr Jamhari, Vice Rector for General Administration Prof Dr Bakhtiar, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr H Ahmad Thib Raya, and Vice Rector for Institutional Development Dr Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim. The MoU between PMI and UIN Jakarta include becoming facilitator of cooperation to fulfill the national blood needs in Indonesia. According to the ratio of the total population, Indonesia needs about 3-4 million bags of blood per year. Among the programs of the MoU, which will be implemented by PMI in the near future, is that PMI will open blood donation posts at various malls and universities. “Through the event, people will find it easier to donate their blood,” said Jusuf Kalla. In his speech, Dr Muhammad Jusuf Kalla’s asserted that through the cooperation of blood donation, it is expected that blood donation will become a lifestyle of Indonesian society and that campuses can become facilitators as well as the largest donors. “I hope that from universities there will be many PMI’s volunteers of Personnel Emergency Response Unit Water and Sanitation in emergency disaster response activities in various places, said the recipient of Doctorate Hororis Causa from Malaya University and Soka University in Japan.
