Main Library, UIN Online - UIN Jakarta continuously determined to become a university of international standing and achieve World Class Research University and also The Top 500 University. To achieve those objectives, a number of UIN Jakarta’s employees participated in an English course in Canadian Corner of Main Library, Tuesday (06/22). “This course aims to help the employees to be skillful in English both written and oral,” said the Secretary of International Office Cut Erika Fatimah MBA in the Main Library, Tuesday (06/22). Erika added, because UIN Jakarta is determined to become an international university, the employees are encouraged to speak English. “They are the people who are constantly in contact with foreign guests,” she stated. This course is hosted by the International Office (IO) of UIN Jakarta, collaborating with the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau. This course is conducted twice a week for one and a half months. According to Erika, in this course, the employees are trained to communicate directly with the speakers from University of Canada. Therefore, it requires the employees’ seriousness and persistence in learning English. Similar to Erika’s statements, a student of University of Canada who was also the speaker, Chintya Maessina said that learning English can be done whenever and wherever we are and requires a lot of practice and strong determination. “I hope the employees will be aware of the importance of English, because it is the language of the world,” she said optimistically.
