Arabic Language and Literature
AS A MEANS OF COMMUNICATION and social interaction, language plays a significant role in the development of human culture and civilization. Arabic has been recognized by the United Nations as one of the official languages to be used in meetings and discussions. The Department of Arabic Language and Literature prepares graduates with skills and knowledge in Arabic language and literature. Core subjects offered in this department include: Arabic Grammar and Morphology, Arabic Stylistics, Composition. Language Skills [Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking], Translation, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Applied Linguistics, Philology. History of Arabic Literature, Arabic Rhyme and Rhythm, Literary Criticism, Literary Texts, Phonetics, Comparative Literature, Islamic Philosophy, Phonetics, Literary Research Methodology, Language Research Methodology, Persian, Urdu, and Turkish.
History and Islamic Civilization
THIS DEPARTMENT prepares graduates with the ability to develop Islam-oriented works in the fields of history, arts, and culture. The core subjects include: Introduction to Sciences of History, Philosophy of History, World History, History of Pre-lslamic Indonesia, Islamic History in Indonesia, Social Intellectual History of Islam in Indonesia, History of Islam in Southeast Asia, Regional History of Islam, History of Islamic Civilization, the Development of Modern Thought in the Islamic World, Historiography, Indonesian Historiography, History of National Movements, Archeology, Sociology, Anthropology, Socio-cultural Sciences, Arabic Grammar and Morphology. Methodology of Research in History, History of Indonesian Literature, Persian, Urdu, and Turkish and Orientalism.
THIS DEPARTMENT aims to produce professional translators who are able to translate textbooks on Islam, which are generally written in Arabic. Most Indonesian Muslims still cannot access religious textbooks written in Arabic. The core subjects in this department include: Arabic Grammar and Morphology, Arabic Stylistics, Literary Texts, Reading Comprehension. Composition, Arabic-Indonesian Translation, Indonesian-Arabic Translation, Consecutive Translation, Simultaneous Translation, Linguistics, Semantics. Technical terms, Theories of Translation, History of Arabic Literature, Research Methodology, Persian, Urdu, and Turkish, Philology, and Phonetics.
English Language and Literature
THIS DEPARTMENT aims to produce graduates with skills and knowledge in the fields of English language and literature. The core subjects offered in this department include; Language Skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking), Morphology, Syntax, Semantics. Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Introduction to English Literary Studies, History of Literature, American Literature, English Literature. Modern American Poetry, Modern British Fiction, Modern Drama, Contemporary British Short Stories, Contemporary British Poetry, Contemporary Australian Drama, Modern American Drama, Introduction to the History of England, Introduction to British, American and Australian Civilizations, and the History of English Language Development.
THIS DEPARTMENT aims to produce graduates with a sound knowledge of and qualifications in library sciences. This department provides students with the necessary skills to carry out technical functions concerning library activities. The core subjects in this department include: Introduction to Library Sciences, References, Classification, Bibliographical Studies, Secondary Literature, Library Management, the Development of Multi-Media Collections, and Islamic Librarianship.
