Before its establishment as a faculty, the Faculty of Da'wa and Communication used to be a department within the Faculty of Usul al- Din. After 25 years of being part of that faculty, in 1989, the Department of Da 'wa separated itself to become a faculty in its own right. At the time of its establishment, the Faculty of Da'wa and Communication consisted of only two departments: Communication and Da 'wa and Islamic Guidance and Counseling. Later, two new departments were added.
The Faculty of Da'wa and Communication has the responsibility of producing scholars in the field of Da'wa, who are willing to devote themselves to the development of society in general, and the Islamic community in particular. The Faculty strives to develop the science of Da'wa and its application. At present, the Faculty of Da'wa and Communication consists of the following departments:

1. Communication and Da'wa
THIS DEPARTMENT AIMS to produce scholars with expertise in the field of communication and da'wa. The core subjects offered in this department include: the Philosophy of Da'wa, the Science of Da'wa, the Psychology of Da'wa, the History of Da'wa, Da'wa Research Methodology, the Science of Communication, Journalism, Public Speaking Techniques, Radio and Film Production. Introduction to Management, Social Statistics, Organizational Behavior, The Development of Islamic Modern Thought, Islamic Propagation, Islamic Philosophy, Ethics, Social Pathology, Comparative Religion, Islamic Geography, Public Relations, the Psychology of Communication and Public Speaking and Introduction to Psychology.
2. Islamic Guidance and Counseling
THIS DEPARTMENT AIMS to produce scholars with expertise in the field of Islamic guidance and counseling. The core subjects offered at this department include: the Philosophy of Da'wa, the Science of Da'wa, the Psychology of Da'wa, the History of Da'wa, Islamic Guidance and Counseling, the Psychology of Religious Sociology, Mental Hygiene, the Psychology of Communication, the Psychology of Development, Research Methodology, Pathology, Basics of Management, Islamic Therapy, Religious Guidance and Counseling, Social Statistics, Diagnostic Psychology, and Organizational Psychology.
3. Da'wa management
THIS DEPARTMENT HAS the duty of producing scholars with expertise in the field of Da'wa management. The core subjects offered include: the Philosophy of Da'wa. the Science of Da'wa, the Psychology of Da'wa, the History of Da'wa, Da'wa Development Methodology, Da'wa Management, the Management of Islamic Organizations, the Management of Da'wa Training, International Islamic Organizations. Hajj Management, Mosque Management, the Management of Islamic Banking, the Management of Non-Profit Organizations, the Management of Da'wa Press, the Management of Information Systems and Public Speaking, the Management of Islamic Community Development, Comparative Da'wa Systems, the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation of Da'wa, Da'wa Information Systems and Da'wa Management Practices.
4. Community Welfare
THIS DEPARTMENT AIMS to produce Muslim scholars who are able to carry out Islamic community development. This Department is geared towards providing students with a sound knowledge of the Islamic community and its development. The core subjects offered include: Principles of Islamic Community Development, Sociology, the Management of Islamic Community Welfare, Introduction to Economics, History of the Indonesian Islamic Community, Development Studies, Islamic Geography, Islamic Economic Systems, the Management of Islamic Banking, Social Science Paradigms and Theories, Introduction to Gender Studies, Rural Sociology, the Management of Social Development, Urban Sociology, Entrepreneurship and Computer Sciences and
